I am trying to share two folders on my Win7 machine with a non-windows device for the purpose of streaming video and music. The folders are in my user directory and are shared with read/execute permission for Everyone. My computer has been assigned a reserved IP on the router. Everything was working last night, but now the device can't find it. Only thing that's happened between then and now is the device was off and the computer was asleep. I've been poking in the settings and am now stuck. Currently the folders I want to share have the same settings as before, the parent directories are not shared, but Everyone has read/traverse permissions. Media Streaming is enabled, and password protected sharing is off. The folders can be accessed by other computers.

Solution
The problem is with your non-windows device. Unless you specify what it is and what you're using to access the shared folder, there is little info to help you.

Yeah, that's probably not going to help you much, which is why I left it out. It's a WiiU with the vWii mode softmodded. The software being used is WiiMC, attempting to connect with an SMB share. My phone is also unable to find the shares.

Got it fixed. Turns out the problem was with my wireless network adapter, not the sharing setup or the WiiU. The adapter was running in b/g/n mode. Dropped it to b/g mode and everything is fine. :)
