quick question bout this situation. If I switch the volts if the pc is turned on, itl'll fry some components, but what if I change it while the pc is off? Iff I add voltage while the pc is off and THEN turn on the pc will it be fine? I'm just curious. Thanks in advance.

Thanks. I will buy a mobo and see if that works. Ya i definitely changed the voltage (stupid accident on my part) while it was off.
I tried turning it back on with a new psu and does not turn on, hoping only mobo is fried.

But at my school with the old computers, we have this power supply where it has 115 and 230 watts. my friend and i were trying to boot up a pc after the reassemble process. We found that it was switched to 230 watts and the pc wouldn't turn on so we changed it to 115 watts and it worked perfectly. then why didn't the components fry at that time? my friend and i went around to other people's computers and switched the psu to 230 and had some fun doing so but the people eventually figured the problem and got their computers working again. Why is this situation I described the same as this person's situation when their parts burned while our parts didn't?
