What's the expected performance for this build?

I'm about ready to start ordering parts and just wanna know what kind of performance I can expect from this thing in games like BF3, Skyrim, Farcry 3, Crysis (any of em), WoW, Star craft 2, new tomb raider and the likes. Mainly looking for what settings (low, mid, high ultra) is the system capable of running games in, and at what fps.

I'll be playing in 1,680 x 1,050

(I'm a noob to resolutions so that number might not make sense, my Monitor is a SyncMaster 2253LW)

The frames will be decent, however your graphics card is a little too much for your CPU to handle. You'll bottleneck. I recommend you try to fit an FX-6300 at the very least. Before rebates, that's only another $30 which will be well worth it.

Wow, I can't believe I missed that. I just left the PSU he currently had in there, sorry about that. Yea, Thermaltake TR2's are awful. Some of Thermaltake's other PSUs are good, but TR2's are the worst of the worst. Here's the modified build for the same price.

It's 430 W instead of 500 W, but that build at 100% load will barely hit 300 W in the first place.

Is that mobo any good though? Newegg reviews kinda trashed it.

Also. what if I OC the athlon? would that prevent bottleneck?

And also (again) If I go with FX6300 could it handle PowerColor AX7870 2GBD5-2DHPPV3E ? there's a sweet deal of that xt for like 150 after rebate. and if so is powercolor worth getting cuz its reiews were fairly unkind.

Sorry for run on questions but this is actually my first build.

If you are going to pick the Powercolor Hd 7870 XT Myst, you would need some serious airflow going to the card and a good PSU, since A - the card gets rather warm in chassis' with poor airflow and B - you need two 6 pin PCI-e connections, which your selected PSU, the Corsair CX 430 doesn't. The AMD FX-6300 would handle it fine if the HD 7870 XT is your desired choice of GPU.

The motherboard chosen for your board MUST be at Revision 5.0 aka the black PCB version. I would contact the retailer of your choice to see if your chosen motherboard is that revision, as that version supports your CPU without a bios update.

At the top of every PC Partpicker build is an estimated wattage display and it's pretty accurate. I recommended you get the CX 430 W, and worst case scenario at 100% load you'll be hitting 289 W according to PC Partpicker, though just to be safe we'll say 100% load is 300 W. A change from one mid range GPU to a slightly better mid range CPU will not cause you to shoot up by 130 W, or anywhere even near that.

UPDATE: The motherboard is fine. What do you mean newegg trashed it? It has a 4 egg average and 51% of the reviews are 5 eggs. There's nothing wrong with it for your purposes, and overall this build will still offer far better performance than you'd get with the Athlon.

It's just a bit over my preferred 400 but I think I'll manage. And as far as the PSU being over the required wattage, I like a lil breathing room in case I learn/decide to OC later on (Since FX is unlocked as well) I'd have loved to go with the 7870xt but the extra cooling and wattage would just throw me way off budget.

Pcpartpicker qualifies all these as compatible, if you guys see anything it may have missed please let me know.
