I am currently looking at the N760 TF 2GD5/OC GeForce GTX 760 2GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 SLI for my rig but I'm not sure how to tell whether it would be compatible with my motherboard or not, my mother board being the GA-970A-UD3 AM3. Kinda new to the internals of PCs so any advice would help, thanks in advance!

Yep, will be fine, your GPU is a PCI-E3 and is backward compatible to the mobos PCI-E socket, so no problems
