Overclocking would be nice, but I think in the time it takes for me to save up money for the full custom water loop that I have planned, there will already be better value GPUs around... Meaning my money would be better spend by buying water blocks for the newer and faster cards at that point. If someone thinks this sounds weird, well, I'm building a custom case too, and meanwhile, I just want to be able to run maxed out 1080p on every possible game, even before I get all my stuff together. Then when the custom case full of extreme water cooling equipment is done, it will be time for the overclocking frenzy.
I think I'm just going with the cheaper ones, my plan is to upgrade GPUs again anyway in the next 12 months or so.
Of course, the Gigabyte OC versions only cost a little bit more. I just wish they weren't so ugly (my case window is facing me directly...)
What do you say about card brands - the cheapest available 760s for me are the Palit and Gainward - are they solid enough?
Then one more question about the reference cards - I like the fact that they have a blower-style cooler, which helps keeping the in-case temperatures in check better than the GPU-wise superior alternatives (my current case isn't great at cooling).... But will it decrease graphics performance if the cards run at 82 degrees celcius flat at full load as the reference cooled cards do?
