Hi everyone,

I have an SSD hard drive and 4GB of physical memory. Photoshop used to load very, very quickly - however, when my partner installed all her brushes and fonts and god knows what else, the program now takes nearly 5 minutes to load.

CPU usage isn´t particularly high, however, I´m noticing a sustained amount of hard faults throughout most of the time the program is loading.

Does that suggest my 4GB is not enough memory, or that my memory is failing?

I think that your problem is the memory, I'm not saying that is faulty but 4GB isn't a good amount for a software like Photoshop that love RAM use.

I agree - we've always planned to upgrade it. However, if the amount of memory is the main reason Photoshop is opening that slowly, I'll prioritize it a bit for her since she's an art student and uses Photoshop pretty much every day. 5 Minutes load time is a bit of an embarrassment.

Out of interest, how much memory would you recommend for stable Photoshop usage? The website recommends 1GB, which isn't very helpful.

In my work we use 8GB and 16GB rigs, both open excellent in less that a minute. Keep in mind that the rigs what I'm talking about are running core i7-3770 and normal HDD.

In your case, I think that 8GB is enough for solve the problem.
