Watercooling: Should I parallel my GPU's, 780 GTX Hydro

I have not built a water cooling PC in a few years and built one over the weekend.

My setup is as follows.

Radiator: 2x Watercool HTF2 4x120mm, Corsair SP120 Quiet, High Static Pressure
Pump: Swiftech MCP655-PWM @ Full Speed, Monsoon Reservoir
CPU: Block EK Supremacy w/ 3960x @ 4.3 ghz, 1.29v
GPU: 2x 780 GTX Hydro Classified @ 1275 core (1.15v) / +275 mhz memory

Tubing is all 1/2 inch.

Configuration:

Reservoir -> Pump -> Radiator 1 -> Video Card 1 -> Video Card 2 -> Radiator 2 -> CPU Block -> Reservoir

My concern is that the temps are a bit higher than I had expected during gaming. I currently idle at around ambient but during load the video cards are 44/42 respectively, running a serial configuration. The CPU will peak in the high 50's for core temperature. Previously when I had done watercooling serial was the only recommended option; however, it would appear now as if more people are moving to parallel configurations. What leads me to believe that there is a lack of flow is the time it takes for temperatures to return back to idle temperatures. It takes around 3.5 minutes to make it back to the temperatures it was prior to gaming. Would the improved flow from a parallel configuration alleviate some of this?

It's possible I am asking too much and it is more work than it is worth. It is also a concern of benefit/cost. I would rather not upgrade to faster fans as I like the current quiet sound, so this would be the likely only change to make to improve things.

Thank you for the help!

Getting the cards in parallel would be as simple as adding in another SLI fitting and moving one of the existing fittings to the other side.
You might as well if you think it might make a difference, though I wouldn't be disappointed with those temperatures.

Placing the sides on the case and doing some cable management brought temps down to a maximum of 38C on the cards after 2 hours playing BF4 Beta. Also noticed that one of my fan controllers defaulted was using the 5v for four fans on the radiator. Between the two, changing to parallel would only be a marginal benefit, imo. Probably just keep it the way it is...
