Hi there,

Quick question, would it be fine to run two different graphics cards at once?
I upgraded from a GeForce GTS 450 to a GeForce GTX 650 over the weekend and realized now that my motherboard allows two graphics cards.

Would it be fine on my PC to run the two different cards at once?

Thanks so much.

You would not get any added performance in games by running the 2 cards, and might actually get lower performance, since both slots would be running at x8/x8 speed as opposed to one slot running at x16. You should be fine if you choose to run both cards, since the 650 doesnt have enough power to saturate the slot.

You can dedicate the old card to Physx, but this only really applies if you play games with Physx.

I don't know much about PhysX or multiple graphics cards. What can I do with two graphics cards using SLI, or two graphics cards like this ?

You can either dedicate the old card to physx (have the new card in the top slot, plug the monitor in to the new card, put the old card in the second slot), or run extra monitors off the second card without it doing anything in games.
