Hey guys I asked a few days ago about upgrading a GTX 295 for something that was relatively future proof and that could handle new games at high specs at 1080p. The majority of the responses I got was go for a GTX 780 and I am happy to go with that

I'm also upgrading a few other parts and just wondering if you guys think what im going for is good for 1080p gaming

The CPU, RAM and MB I upgraded 2 years ago so im gunna hold on to them for another year or 2 I reckon

So Spec of my PC is

Thermaltake Case - fan cooled

Gfx: GTX 295 -------------------------------> Upgrading to GTX 780

CPU: Intel Core i7-2600k

MB: Asus P8P67 pro

RAM: 2x4mb kingston DDR3

PS: Coolmaster 700W ---------------> Upgrading to 1000W EVGA SuperNOVA

HD: Maxtor 500gb (old and cheap HD) -------------------------> Upgrading to 250GB Samsung 840 EVO SSD and 2TB WD Red WD20EFRX

OS: Windows 7 home premium 64bit

Just wondering what you guys think, Its costing me about £800

Thanks for Reading and any advice :)

You might want to wait for the AMD R9-290 benchmark, it's supposed to beat the Titan for ~$600. Also, what's the model of your Coolermaster PSU? I probably wouldn't upgrade it unless it's a real cheap model or if you feel like it's going to blow up or something :p  700W is plenty for any single GPU configuration.

EDIT : And like ^^ he said, get a decent cpu cooler (my choice would be the Hyper 212 EVO which is like $25) and give your CPU a quick and easy overclock (4.2 - 4.5 gHz).

Hi and welcome to Tom's forum.

1) You will see a really excellent change from GTX 295 to GTX 780, personally I suggest you go with ASUS, MSI or EVGA.
2) You don't need a 1000W PSU, a good 850W cana handle the rig even with a future GTX 780 SLI. Corsair, Seasonic, XFX or Antec are excellent brands.
3) Excellent SSD and 2TB is more that enough for save games and applications.
