Hello everyone,

First of, thanks for the information on this forum! I smoked my old motherboard after some sweat got on it. Then got a Gigabyte GA-EP45-DS3P. Put in case, connected everything. Some leds and then 0.

So on this forum I found "perform steps posting post boot video problems" (http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/s/perform+steps+posting+post+boot+video+problems/ ). This way found out that my PSU was broken (under powered) en first 2 memory slots are broken or need to be set to 2.1V (OCZ memory voltage) (Beeps helped me too, but mostly the post).

All set and don, I was running. Well HDD data was damaged, but I got in to windows on a USB stick and was recovering data. Then after 10 minutes black screen.

Current problem
I started with "perform steps posting post boot video problems" again. Now my problem is next thing. Motherboard with CPU and fan connected with PSU connections will give 1 sec power to fans and 1 LED. Then only 1 orange LED will light up and that's it. (So no loop of rebooting, what I had before with the bad PSU).
Then I removed the 8 pin socket connector and tried again (don't know if that's smart but I did) and system will stay on, all CPU LEDs light up and one green LED will light up. CPU fan will not turn. (Tried this all with G-card, mem, HHD connected too, all same).

Once I put back the 4 or 8 pin socket connector, system will go back to orange LED.

So is it bad:
  • PSU (500W needed, I have new 500W but Aopen)
    motherboard

Plz help! Have 4 CPUs, 2 G cards and 6 memory banks here now. Cost me loads and still no working system.

Thanks for the fast responds.

Yesterday when system worked for X minutes, I tested all 4 CPU's. They all worked fine and today tested 3 but will not work (just in case motherboard broken, don't like to risk quad core, costing me €55 again).
But have next 4:
E4600
E8200
Q6600
Q8400

Motherboard smells faulty to me, especially if you have connected up new 500w psu.

TRy pulling cmos battery, leave disconnected from mains for an hour so that the system will default to factory defaults.

Have a GB 775 mobo that suffered from a corrupt BIOS that did a similar thing and this sorted it out and its still going strong.

Thanks das_stig,

Did try that before and the 'special' button to clear BIOS. Then again, only removed battery for 1 minute. So just removed it and will put back in a hour. Hope will solve it.

Yes my beset guess motherboard as well. But strange thing is, did not work for a week, the got to work and shut down after 10 minutes in windows. So not 100% sure it's motherboard and not the Aopen PSU. Seeing it's min needed and B brand.

Will get back if worked or not!

Update
Just but back the battery and no change.

Any other ideas?

Well got a 'new' (free) motherboard, everything works well again.
Just a pain in the .. that can't overclock CPU and only CPI 16 and not 2.0. But it works, was free and I can work again!

Thanks for the information and help!

I had the same problem today. I spent 16 hours did all the steps. Had solved the problem. its simpel if the phase leds blink and motherbord doesnt go back up and stays at led 4 and cpu led is blue and cpu fan does not start it means the you have a short circut on a pin. My friend instaled a special cooler and the problem was that the pins on the backside came true the isolation of the coller holder on backside. i took down the new cooler made original up.look mb boots.then i took isoband and gave 4 layers over it instaled new 2 level isolation and instaled the sytem again. So for futere problem with phase led it means you have a shortcircut on motherbord in that part that the blue led whitch indicate part of testing. it can be a shortcircuit or a is shortcircuted. I spend so much time on studying the mother bord i became pro in it. If you got problems mail me
