I had a dual-boot system on my craptop with Linux and Windows 8. Since I wasn't using Linux a whole lot and needed the hard drive space it occupied, I deleted all the partitions originally created for it, kept the shared and Windows drives, ran bootrec.exe /MbrFix to default the boot back to Windows, and merged the unallocated space in the A: drive with C:, but it took the A: drive name!! I can't change it back to C: in EaseUS Partition Manager. Are there programs that can do this or is there a way to break in somewhere and change it? All the forums I'm reading are from ten years ago, so maybe there are fancier gadgets or better breeds of genius out there. I don't want to do a clean install because I spent the whole day flashing receipts to Adobe to free up my non-deactivated CS5.5 serial number last time I bombed the shit out of my poor computer, hehe. Any help is appreciated.

For tools, I have an Apricorn Sata to USB cable, a working computer, the 500GB SSD I'm trying to fix reads "no operating system found" and I have a legal Windows 8 pro with disk. Also, I have a backup, but it's a clone. Not sure if that does me any good.

Thanks again,

Mr. Cheeseburger

If the only issue you are experiencing is that the drive letter has changed from C: to A:, you can easily change the drive letter back using Disk Management. Simply right click in the lower left corner of the screen, where the Start Screen would be launched, and select Disk Management from the list of administrative tools. Once open, right click A: under the Volume category and select Change Drive Letter and Paths. Select change, and then select C from under the Assign the following drive letter drop down menu. If C is otherwise taken, you may need to shuffle around drive letters on other drives to free it. You will be warned that changing the drive letter may result in some programs which rely on drive letters malfunctioning, but...
