Hey all,

I'm not sure if this is posted in the correct section (mods, feel free to move at your discretion), but here goes:

Previously I was running a single 19" Acer LCD monitor (1440 x 900). Yesterday I picked up an Asus VS247H-P (1080p) (So nice!!!). :)

I'm now running the Asus as the primary display and the Acer as secondary. The Asus is connected via DVI and the Acer via HDMI. System specs are in my sig.

My question is; when I'm running a game on the primary display and mouse over to the 2nd display and click on an app to do something over there, the game on the primary display "alt-tabs" out of the game (the game minimizes).

It's not a huge deal as my system can easily alt-tab back in. It's just a little annoying when I have to keep doing that. Part of the reason I kept the Acer as a 2nd display was so that I could browse info about the game I was playing without having to alt-tab out of the game. (For example, playing Terraria while looking up different objects/materials on the wiki at the same time).

Is this normal and does anyone else have this issue? Does anyone know how to fix or set it up so this doesn't happen?

Thanks, :)

Solution
I have noticed RTS games have this problem (civ v, tropico 4, etc.) and random other games will act like I have an invisble cursor by hovering over something and making text appear if I leave Steam up on my second monitor. This probably won't work, but try right clicking on the .exe for the game > properties > compatibility > check disable desktop composition. I'm definitely interested in seeing if there is another solution too.

^Thanks for the reply. :)

Well I figured out why this is happening. It's because I have the displays set up as extended (two acting as one). So when I click on something on the 2nd display, I'm basically switching between programs on the same display and thus, it minimizes the game.

I can't seem to figure out how to run two monitors as two separate displays so I can have different programs running on each and switch between them without minimizing the game on the other display... Does anyone know how to do this?

The only options available are; Extend, combine, show only display 1, and show only display 2. Those two last options shuts off the other display.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks. :)
