Screen resolution changed after temporarily using a different monitor

Hi guys,

I have a rather old 1440x900 monitor, though I got a pretty good video card (nVidia GTX 560 TI), therefore I need a VGA -> DVI adapter. A couple of weeks ago I accidentally broke my adapter, so I had to get a new one. In the meantime I just borrowed my brother's monitor, which is an HD monitor which I plugged directly into the DVI slot. Today I switched back to my own monitor using a new VGA -> DVI adapter, but the resolution is all messed up. The highest resolution I can select now that looks decent enough is 1200 x 900, even though I'm sure my monitor's native resolution is 1440x900. If I try to set it to 1440x900 manually, it looks ugly and out of position and the display does not reach the actual edges of the screen.

I have no idea why my resolution has changed and I want it back to 1440x900. Before you guys start saying it, yes I did update my video card drivers and it didn't work. Do you guys have any other ideas?

Open NVidia control panel and look for "Change resolution" and in the right pane look for the native resolution, refresh rate and colour depth. Now set it manually look how it works.

"Adjust desktop size and position" on the right pane "Select a scaling mode" to "Aspect Ratio" and "Perform scaling on" to "Display".

That's the weird thing. Somehow it's saying the native resolution is 1024 x 768, even though I'm 100% sure the native resolution is 1440 x 900. After the monitor switch it has just changed to 1024 x 768. I have no idea why.
