Hi,

I've got this list of components so far that I'm happy with, but I'm not sure what other components I have to buy to be able to build this thing. The idea is to get two 12-core Xeons and four GTX Titans, although for budget reasons I will start with getting one of each, then add later as I have more to spend:

* = Only buy 1 first, then add additional ones later in the future as I get more dough.

1 x Corsair Obsidian Series 900D Case/Tower

1 x EVGA SuperNOVA NEX 1500W Power Supply

1 x ASUS Z9PE-D8 WS Motherboard

*2 x Intel Xeon E5-2697 v2 2.7GHz 12-Core CPU

*4 x EVGA GeForce GTX TITAN SuperClocked 6GB SLI Ready

*4 x Crucial 32GB Kit (16GBx2), DDR3 1600MHz ECC RAM

For starter I'm gonna use my current Vertex SSD, and later buy 2 x SAMSUNG 840 Pro 512GB SSD for RAID-0.

Any advice is much appreciated!

Well I don't think quad titans are going to get you anywhere on a lot of that software. One is probably enough for most things. Could save quite a lot by getting multiple GTX780s. Tesla = 16 SMX units, Titan = 15 SMX Units, GTX780 = 13 SMX Units, all the same chip.

And having one of the professional graphics cards, like a quadro, in there would allow you to use GPU rendering instead of software rendering. They are rather expensive, much like the Xeon chips.

Each Titan can consume 225W by itself, 130W per CPU = 1160W, no fans, drives, or motherboard, monitor, etc. So 1500W makes a lot of sense, and is about as high as you can go without getting 240V or 3-phase to run your computer. 115VAC x 15amps = 1725, make sure you have decent wiring wherever you install this thing. Really won't be able to have anything else on the circuit.

Your build looks fairly good all things considered.

Thanks for the reply!!!

Yeah, the Titan GPUs won't help me much at all in most areas. But I forgot to mention it's mainly for Octane Render (GPU renderer) I'm getting them, on recommendation from two others who has been and is using 4 of them in their systems. Also from what I've read on the Octane website/forums, it can use multiple Titans to achieve crazy fast render speeds. This article (boxx) also confirms it's slightly faster than the gtx 780 http://boxxblogs.blogspot.com/2013/06/gtx-780-gpu-rende...

My biggest problem is I'm not sure what other components I need to get for this thing to work. I'm a 100% on getting the Tower, Motherboard, CPUs (only 1x to start with), GPUs (1x to start with) and RAM (crucial 8x16gb). I'm glad to hear the PSU will work. That's one problem solved. Thanks for the wiring suggestion also!

What kinda Water Cooling/Fans or whatever + cables/wires is needed to get this thing up and running? I would like it if I could order all needed components in one go, rather than going back and forth. Also it would be nice to know what it would cost before I start throwing money on it.

Thanks again! Hugely appreciated.
