I was wondering if the Intel i7 3700 non k version can only clock to 3.9 ghz or will it be able to do better? if it cant or it can will each core run at stock clock and only when under load boost to 3.9 or will it run at 3.9ghz (or grater is possible) constantly .what water cooler would be suggested to preform the over clock but still keep good temperature's when being used for gaming. thanks :)

Hi,

A non "k" processor is cannot overclock.

The 3.9 ghz frequency is the max on turbo boost and normally runs @ 3.4 ghz.

This means that it normally runs at 3.4 but if an application or game, on a single core, would go up to 3.9 and cannot go over it.

Depends on the board, if you have a Z77mother board you can set it as high as 4.1ghz (think you could set it to 4.3, but it wouldnt' go above 4.1 unless you turned off 2 cores)

I have a z77 board and my 3.3ghz max processor is running at 3.5ghz, you can usually go 2 notches above the turbo frequency if you have an OC board (z77 in this case)
