I plan on getting water cooling the the future.

I want to use this block: http://www.performance-pcs.com/catalog/index.php?main_p...

for the HD 7850 and HD 7950 in the future.

Now, do you need to get a full GPU water block to cool the GPU RAM?

I plan on only overclocking the core clock, and not touching RAM (since it't not that much beneficial).

Memory does not generally require cooling as long as it is not overclocked to begin with. The stock memory of the 7850 does not even have cooling :)

You WILL need to cool the VRMs(Voltage regulators) for sure on the higher end cards. That on its own makes a full coverage block a good investment.

So I do need a full coverage block. How come the make single blocks? Or is there a separate block I can use for the VRM's

Some cards do not need extra cooling. Its mostly the higher end card.

Some users prefer to use small heatsinks and a fan for VRM cooling.

It comes down to preference for the most part.

Just do not leave NO cooling on high end cards vrms.

Ok. Ill go with the heatsink idea. How how do they get when overclocking?

They can get toasty, this is why having a fan near them if good.

This said, you can buy VRM coolers for most cards if needed(custom fit and using the stock holes in the board.).

It also depends on who made the card. Some have a dedicated vrm cooling heatsink installed already.
