I already have some parts.
Please help me fill out the rest! Thank you!

Usage: Gaming > word processing > a little video editing

TOTAL budget: $1700-1900

Budget for things I still need: $1400-1600 (as low as possible, please; $1500 if only really worth the price for extra performance)

NOTE: Don't worry about things like fans/thermal compound/etc. I consider them fixed additional budget, so please do as much as you can with the 1400-1600 for the parts I need. Thank you!

Parts I need ($1400-1600):
CPU: (i5? i7? Why?)
CPU Cooler:
Motherboard:
RAM:
GPU:
Case: (a little interested in the BitFenix Prodigy & the Corsair 750D... opposites, i know lol)
Power Supply:

Parts I already have:
SSD: Samsung 840 Pro Series 128GB 2.5"
HDD: Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM
Optical Drive: Samsung SH-224BB DVD/CD Writer

This build includes everything you already had as well as the small stuff people normally leave out (case fans, thermal paste).

Parts are self-explanatory, some people like other brands, I just vouch for the ones I've tried.

The reason for the PSU is so that you can SLI in the future. Plus modular cables saves room and gives better air flow. Also use one of the 2pack fans to mount as an exhaust near the GPU and the other can be put on the Closed loop for a push/pull config. Use the 140 for an intake fan. Hope this helps.

Wow liquid cooling. I've never gone that route before so would be nervous about it haha.. Gotta do some research. Everything sounds good though. I'm coming from the i5 3570K (my friend has decided to purchase my PC from me lol) and was wondering if there is a solid upgrade from that? Perhaps i7, if applicable?

Also, no need to worry about the small things like fans & thermal compound. I consider those fixed marginal budget so it's okay :D That should give us more room to play with ? :)

Thanks for indulging w/ my interest in the 750D though haha!

Home-made liquid cooling... scary. Closed loops, not so much. Closed systems are safe and work great from my experience. I have an H70 that keeps my OC'd 3570k @ 4.3 idle around 30c and it goes up to 55c when I'm gaming and have music and some web browser tabs open on my 3 monitors.

If you wanted to go with a haswell chip instead of an ivy bridge you can but unless you need the small extra features, then it's just a waste of money. The newer chips cost more as well as the motherboards and perform within the same margin for this price point. I mean if you were spending like $10k then you would want a 6 or 12 core extreme processor to handle the 4 way titan SLI or something crazy. But for now, most benchmarks put the 3570k right next to the 3770k because the difference is the hyper threading (which 95% of games don't utilize) so a nice overclock just bypasses the need to spend $50 or more on something you don't need. However if you do a lot of video editing and use very new fancy programs, the hyper threading can be useful. Just not so much in gaming.

thats not watercooling. thats crappy imitation watercooling. it doesnt even perform better than heatsinks half the price. its a joke

literally the same performance, but 500 bucks cheaper

-if you want comparable performance to the h80i, you are looking at the havik 140 at 59.99. for the same price as the h80i, you can get the noctua d14 which on my i7 3770k at 4.3ghz can be run passive
-extra paste will not be necessary as the cooler includes pretty good stuff.
-no need for extra fans. my system doesnt even use them due to the fact it makes no difference in temps. the included ones on the arc midi r2 are good enough and quiet

for the GPU, id highly suggest waiting a bit and check out the r9 290x or 290. they are most likely going to perform better than the titan while costing much much less
