Recently obtained myself a nice shiny ASUS GTX 760 card as I was due an upgrade from my 560ti and and during gameplay of a handful of games (Chivalry, Dragon Age:o rigins to name two.) We found that we got reduced frame rates compared to the 560ti.

Motherboard: ASUS P8H67 -M LE
CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-2500K CPU @ 3.30GHz (4 CPUs), ~3.3GHz
RAM: 2x4GB
PSU: some cheap brand - 500w

I thought that the chip might be bottlenecking the card for awhile but then I looked at the PSU and how it was connected (I didn't want to do it myself so I asked my somewhat able father)

It only had a singular 6pin connection and was inserted using a Molex adaptor (2x6 into 1x8)
I'm 90% certain that this connection is the issue with my stuttering issue, but wanted to get a second opinion before I rashly go out and buy an expensive chip. Would this cause some sort of instability to the system because it's not really using both molex 6pin slots and only the one?

If so, I understand I need to find one that is an 8pin, 2x6pin or a 6+2pin PSU. Just wanted some confirmation :)

EDIT: curiosity got the better of me so I fired up Dishonoured and Skyrim to check it out. Both seemed to play fine but stuttering and pauses were very noticeable :/

Not really. The cheap brand PSU might be it though. What is the actual brand? Also, be prepared to get a new PSU.

I honeslty haven't a clue. Like I said, it's a cheap brand. High Power or something along those lines.
I'm totally prepared , if I have the money is another question.

Thought so. Alot of people seem to say it's a PSU issue. I'll just have to make sure to not do anything too heavy on the card till I can replace it.
