I am using Radeon HD6850 with Samsung T190, whose native resolution is 1400x900. Everything worked perfectly until I installed new drivers for the GPU. After I did that the display became a bit fuzzy and I get reminders that monitor is not in optimum mode and that I should change resolution to 1400x900. However, the problem is that the resolution is already set at that.

I installed Windows 7 again, and there's still the same problem. In display resolutions menu wrong resolutions are highlighted as native(1600x1200 recommended, 1280x960 etc.). When I change it to 1400x900 display retains the width but loses much height and I still get the message from the monitor that it is not in the recommended mode. I don't think it's a problem with monitor because the operating system itself is showing wrong resolution as natived, and it doesn't display the appropriate resolution correctly. Monitor is connected with VGA cable.

I tried various things, reinstalling OS, installing various drivers, changing settings in Katalyst etc. From the moment I installed the new drivers something got messed and I'm still not close to figuring it out. I hope somebody will be able to shed some light on this. Thanks in advance.

Solved finally. In Catalyst Control Center's VGA Properties menu the option called ''Use Extended Display Identification Data'' gets turned on after any new driver install. Turning it off solves the problem if anyone ever needs the solution.
