OK this maybe a misplaced and/or archaic question but...why didn't the Orange Box run that well on the consoles?

Solution
Probably for the same reason GTAIV ran fine on the console and it sucked on the PC. All about coding. GTAIV was a terrible console port, and therefore was not coded well for the PC and used many resources.

Might be the opposite for Orange Box.

I know the real story, the Orange Box ran terrible on the PS3, and ok on the xbox360. The reason is that the porting from PC->PS3 was outsourced to EA (yeah, THE EA) and well, they did a poor job porting the game to the PS3. The porting from PC to XBOX360 was performed by Valve itself. So the Xbox360 version was superior to the PS3 version.
