I've been considering upgrading my processor to an AMD FX-9590 but the 220W TDP concerns me. I know the Crosshair V Formula-Z is compatible, but I'm not sure if the Crosshair V Formula (no Z) will allow the necessary power to properly run the CPU, and I haven't been able to find an answer in my searching. Does anyone have a definitive answer? Will an FX-9590 run in a Crosshair V Formula?

Thanks in advance.

The CPU isn't listed under the CPU support list, but Asus did say that all 990FX chipset motherboards are compatible without a bios update.

Check the CPU support list on the product page. If the CPU isn't listed then it may not POST in the board (depends if microcode is required). The board VRM is more than capable of 220W, just depends if there will be support for it or not.
