I bought a computer for HP ( yes i know it was a mistake but you live and learn) and I am looking to buy a Evga gtx 760 2gb or 4gb. Issue that I hear with the 700 series is that some mobo's are not able to use the cards and they are requiring a bios update. How would I update my bios if I absolutely have to?

Manufacturer - Pegatron
Model - 2AD5
Bios - AMI version 7.15
*This is what CPU-Z says so I do not know if this is correct or not*

Ask for more info if needed.

Ok I did so but no bios is avaible for update. From the CPU-Z and using tools I found that it does say I have one. Maybe just a marketing scam on their part?

»HP Pavilion HPE h8-1360t CTO Desktop PC

*Of course I have a new case, psu, and have a Evga gtx 560 that I got strictly for World of Warcraft but want to get away from console games and enjoy playing them in a better resolution.*

ok awsome. So reason i asked all of this was that my friend tried putting a gtx 770 in his computer "from HP but found his motherboard is an msi version instead of the Pegatron" but his computer would only boot to the splash screen before windows startup and not go anywhere else. Any idea what it is? Heard it could be a mobo issue but not sure and his computer is a HP P7-1298CB

it happens some times...there are small issues that can pop up with different chipsets.his mb uses an amd chipset. with a lot of the newer video cards it can depend on how much voltage there pulling when the pc posts. if the card pulls to much power or has to big of an inrush some mb for safty might not post. toms hardware found that out last year when a vendor of nvidia cards moded there cards outside of nvidia spec to keep them running at there max over clock speed. the change on the power input of these cards cause a lot of motherboard to do a no post with the cards in them.
