So right now I was planning on doing an SLI or CrossFire setup in my rig. Granted, that I need to buy a new motherboard. Now, I was doing some research and I found out AMD does not do Physx like Nvidia does and I also heard that running AMD cards in CrossFire have really bad stuttering and latency issues. Is this true? I have a GTX 680 right now but only 2GB version but I am starting to realize that 2GB is not going to be enough for upcoming games. While framerates will be crazy nice with 2 680's I don't know how long 2GB of VRAM will last me.. That's why I was thinking of the 7970 because they have 3GB or memory which will last for a good while I think and I can pick a couple up for 600 dollars or so. So please tell me what you guys think! Thanks for replies!

Hang onto your 680, its still a great card, I have one and I'm more than happy with the performance it gives. I play BF4 beta and still hit 70fps.
Best thing to do is only upgrade it if you really need to, adding another 680 to SLI one that you already have is a better idea than getting a 7970 when you already have a 680. You can pick up a second hand or new 680 from ebay at a decent price and get excellent performance with 680 SLI.
2GB of vram is enough right now for a single 1080 monitor, it plays anything you throw at it , if you are thinking of going multi monitor at a high res then I would consider upgrading.
The 7970 crossfire still has too many issues to recommend.
Stick it out and wait for the next Gen of cards, the 680 has...

Amd drivers are improving but still when it comes to multi gpu nvidia still ahead. Even right now there are still issues with cf that amd promise to fix. To be honest i have a hard time to recommend cf over sli unless the person already have radeon in his/her system and they know the current state of cf
