I'm having an issue with my 7870 overheating

I just bought an XFX 7870 DD and while at idle it runs at 27C but when running furmark within a minute the temps are pushing 90C I figured that the thermal paste might be an issue, so i reapplied it and its still doing the same thing, is it a fan issue or do i just have a bad card?

use msi afterburner...turn the fan to max speed and rerun the test. you should hear the fan max out if the card working right. the card will get warm but the fans at max should keep it under it max temp if your case has good airflow. if your case in small and has no fans try taking the side case panel off see if more airflow helps.

ive actually already done that, i also cleaned up the wiring a bit, moved it up so there was more room between it and the PSU and the fans are at max speed and still does the same thing, it just takes a bit longer

I called XFX about it and they said that it might be a cooler issue and that they were going to send me a new one, but should i just get an aftermarket cooler instead or try and see if it was a bad cooler since i know it shouldnt be running that hot
