Hi guys,

I'm looking to upgrade to the 7970 that's on sale on Amazon at the moment but I'm unsure whether a CX 500 v2 is enough to run it? On the Sapphire website it says the minimum is a 500w but it doesn't state the amps on the 12v rail and I think the CX is something like 34a? I really haven't got the money to shell out on another PSU.

Rest of my system:
Gigabyte GA-970a DS3
8GB TeamGroup Elite @1600Mhz
FX-6300 @ Stock
Sapphire 7850 OC Dual-X
Seagate Barracuda 500GB 7200

You should be abble but i recommend getting a decent PSU anyways which you will be able to reuse even after 5 years.

I recommend Corsair HX750 cheap gold PSU that actually delivers, gives headroom to overclock and use crossfire.
If you want a bit cheaper a CX750 is fine but remember, its an investment just like a case is, those 2 parts are reuseable.

Seems OK to me, everyone overstates their power requirements to cover their backs.
