Force Gen 3.0 on x79 crashes OS?

I'm running GTX670x3 (triple SLI) to power a 3420x1920 display. My mobo is an ASROCK Extreme 9 x79. I know how to registry hack to get PCI-E 3.0. I've confirmed it via GPU-Z. However, once I go to run any game/bench while under PCI-E 3.0 my clean windows install crashes.

Any help?

Solution
Can you link to the directions of the registry hack?

It shows that it's PCIe 2.0, and since it doesn't run PCIe 3.0 without the registry hack, I'd come to the conclusion that PCIe 3.0 is not officially supported, though I do not doubt that you can manipulate it to run PCIe 3.0 speeds.

Well, assuming you have a SB-E CPU, PCIe 3.0 isn't supported, so this seems like something that would happen with a ptch. PCIe 2.0 is fine, anyway. If you're having bandwidth problems, you can try to up the BCLK.

What did you do to achieve PCIe 3.0?

1. The 3930K does support PCI-E 3.0.
2. The patch is a registry hack because NVidia doesn't want to support the GTX670 for some convoluted reason.
3. I need PCI-E 3.0 because triple SLI on a surround system (3x27" monitors) @ 3420x1920 eats a lot of bandwidth.

Anyone else have any experience with this? I've read numerous posts of folks getting it to work - but for some reason, I can't get it to work on my mobo/chip.
