Is there any difference in download speed between wifi and ethernet?

Solution
Depends.
In terms of sheer bandwidth, Ethernet offers the most with typical routers offering 1Gb/s speeds over Ethernet. Wi-Fi speeds depend on a few factors, some you can control (dual band, type) and others you cant (environmental factors, distance).

In terms of internet speed, you would need a pretty fast internet connection to be limited by Wi-Fi bandwidth. Just because your router says a Gigabit a Second doesnt mean that you will ever download that fast, if you want fast internet then your ISP is the one to consult and not the hardware on your end.

wired connection(Ethernet) always provides better bandwidth up-to 10/100/1000Mbit/s,low latency, security etc. Wireless provides mobility.Bandwidths are Wireless a/b/g/n @ 54/11/54/600Mbit/s So its up to you what you want for different purposes and which type of connection is required
For laptop wireless would be nice. For desktop Ethernet is just fine as you don't need mobility there.
you can compare bandwidths here

As a rule of thumb I always go wired if applicable....You will not have the wireless overhead to deal with.
Then again running a 100' of cable through the house and out in the garage is pretty silly if you need a video to watch to complete a project. That is where wireless shines as someone previously stated, mobility.

I am thinking of using a wireless router because i have 3 or 4 things to connect to a network simultaneously like my desktop, laptop or 2 cell phones. Now a days every gadget requires internet connection, so if i am at home and want to use internet on my cell then i wifi connection will be more suitable for me.
