Fx 6300 value (around $120) equivalent to Intel CPUs? + Motherboard

Hey I'm getting a custom PC . I chose an AMD mobo with an Fx 6300 CPU.
But now I'm debating if I should switch to an intel mobo + cpu?
Though I am on a tight budget and I know intel CPUs are much more expensive.

Here's the overall price for the AMD combo:
Fx 6300 = $ 100 - $ 109
+
Asrock 970fx Extreme 4 = $85 - $100

= $185 - $300 ( I can spend a few more if worth it)

Are there any intel CPU that performs the same or much better with (around) the same price?
At least a quad CPU ( i5/i7)
And what would be a good motherboard to go along with it? ( I think the AMD 970 series equals the = z77 intel mobo series?)
By good I mean good quality + performance, and good ratings.

I will mostly be gaming and some video/photoshop work (graphics stuff)

Please let me know ASAP.
Thanks!

I would forget about the i3, it will bottleneck before the FX6300, if look at it like this, an i3 will become a bottleneck in games like BF3 or BF4, and pretty much any game that can use a tri core our quad, DayZ isn't at the all fun on a i3 either. Remember, PC's have other things that runs in the background. The cores of the i3 are faster then that of a FX6300, but with new games the are gonna use more then a dual core, the i3 will suffer quiet bit, allowing even the old Q6600 to beat it.

If you go with Intel, no lower then an i5, preferably a k series that way you can learn to OC if you'd like. The i5 3570k is a good CPU, and should be able to OC 4 to 4.5ghz or more if lucky. Shouldn't be any bottleneck with it either with newer CPU...

Try intel i3 3220,it is around the same price,if you can extended your budget, i3 4130($129.99) or i5 3350p($169.99).The i5 is best for high performance gaming while the i3's are hyper threaded so virtually they are a quad core processor.

Yeah that one seems good enough, but how about a motherboard?
I heard Asus and Gigabyte to be one of the best manufacturers for MOBOs. Any suggestion?
But any good model from any brand honestly..

EDIT: Nevermind! My budget just increased xD
I can afford an i5 3570k with Asrock z77 Extreme4.
Would that be good enough ?:O

Tho I don't know much about the z77 boards, I just know my bros i3 bottlenecks the heck out of my 5850s while my 1100T laughs at it in bf3.

If you can afford a 3570k, consider the FX 8350 and something like the M5A99X EVO R2.0

Forget any of the i3 processor and even the low end i5. Your best bet in your budget would be the 6300 but if you can stretch I recommend the 8120, 8320, 8350. The 8000 series has 8 cores and high clock speed which will beat an i5 in most games. The 8120 will cost you around $140 the 8320 will be around $160 and the 8350 will be around $200. So my answer is no, there are no intel cpus that will be better than the 6300 that are the same price or cheaper.
