This is my first build, i am looking for opinions and any ideas how to make it better / cheaper without suffering.

NZXT SWITCH 810 Black Full Tower Gaming Computer Case $149.99
AMD FX-6300 Vishera 3.5GHz $119.99
ASUS SABERTOOTH 990FX R2 $184.99
HIS IceQ H787Q2G2M Radeon HD 7870 GHz Edition 2GB X2 $169.99/EA = $339.98
Rosewill LIGHTNING-800 800W $149.99
Patriot Extreme Performance 16GB DDR3 1866 $169.99
Kingston HyperX 3K SH103S3/120G 2.5" 120GB $98.99
Seagate Barracuda 1TB 7200 RPM 64MB Cache $69.99
NZXT Kraken X60 280mm Liquid CPU Cooler $109.99

Total $1,393.90

Would the ASUS Crosshair V Formula-Z $239.99 be any better?

Solution
My thoughts HERE.

Reasoning: I'm an intel kinda guy and I believe unless you are planning to fold/game 24/7 you won't have any need of water cooling. Also, 8gb is plenty for gaming. The XFX psu is made by seasonic and is the best bang for the buck out there - 750w will give you more than enough grunt for my build, plus the headroom need to go sli in the future if you really need to. I always suggest buying the best SINGLE card solution you can afford rather than two less expensive cards in sli/xfire. As far as the case goes, the half 922 has 2x200mm fans plus a 120mm. The stock cooling together with the GAIA cpu cooler will keep everything at a great temp.

Final reason - it's $200 cheaper than your build and has a killer...

I don't see any advantage for a V formula over a Sabertooth, both are very good boards. I'd steer clear of HIS GPU's. Just my opinion but I have seen more returns due to lower quality control. I really like EVGA for GPU's. But if you must have a 7870 consider ASUS, MSI or Powercolor. I'd even buy a Sapphire over an HIS. I would also recommend getting one really good GPU over two mid range cards in crossfire. ATI is still solving their studder issue.

The rest looks good.

Solution
Drop the water-cooling for a more reasonable air-cooler.
Lower the motherboard, why are you getting a premium board with a mid-range CPU and GPU?
Only need a 550W PSU for that rig.
8GB of 1600Mhz CL9 is all you need for RAM on a gaming rig.

Use the cash you save to get an FX-8350 (if you stick with AMD, an Intel i5 if not) and a higher end card like a GTX770 or R9 280X.
