worth upgrading to a pci exp 3.0 board ?

I currently have decent 2.0 board would it be worth going to a PCI Express 3.0 board what performance increase would I get ?

Hi. What video card are you using at the moment? With PCIe 3.0, you get a wider bandwidth and can move more through the pipe. This is particularly nice with the PCIe 3.0 Video Cards. You are also pretty much all USB 3.0 ( although there aren't all that many 3.0 devices out there at the moment ). Some or most board are also all SATA III with no SATA II headers. It is a much better board.

I just saw your Sig. Your Video card would benefit from going to a 3.0 board. I have been running a GTX 680 since June '12. I upgrade the processor and Motherboard the first week of June this Year and went to a 3.0 board. It makes a difference.

i heard that even new gfx cards are not bottlenecked from a PCIe x16 2.0 slot.
I guess that u only need to upgrade if you want to build a SLI/Crossfire setup...

I ordered a ASUS MATRIX-HD7970 Platinum (PCIe x16 3.0) for my ASUS Crosshair IV Formula (PCIe x16 2.0/2.1)... next week i can tell you exactly how it works.

The performance difference will be negligible. You may see a couple FPS if anything. The current graphics cards still have trouble filling a 2.0 x16 lane.

I think the biggest bottleneck is from the CPU and not the PCIe bus. As czar said, the 3.0 cards still have a problem filling the 2.0 bus and I have seen this on several occasions. A processor can choke it though.
