Hey, I have a question. Which of these two processors is better? I will play games, mainly BF4 and maybe some Pics and Video editing.
Thanks

If you are overclocking, the 4670k would have somewhat of an edge. If not overclocking, the Xeon would be my pick.

You are mostly a gamer for BF4 and looking at a 2.8Ghz xeon?
Where do people even come up with ideas like this?

Most benchmarks will show that there is little to no gain in hyperthreading performance between an i5 and an i7 at the same clock speed.

So what matters is core clock speed. The I5 would spank that xeon in games, and thats even before the I5k is overclocked.

Of course you will suffer slightly on your video editing without hyper threading so you have to choose what is more important to you. The real question should be i5 or i7 because the i7's come clocked just as high as opposed to this xeon you are looking at.

So, if I don't want to overclock the Xeon, but if I do, what i might do, I should choose the i5?

get an i5K if you might overclock
get an i7k if you want hyperthreading for better video editing performance (+$100 to I5)

If you are sure you wont overclock ever, get an i5 or an i7 non k version for slightly cheaper than k versions

Try 3.3 turbo to 3.7. http://ark.intel.com/products/75054/

BF4 is one of the rare games that actually does benefit from hyperthreading. After all the beta benches that have been posted on here the past few days, you should already know that fact. The main game the OP is interested in is BF4. If they do not intend to overclock, it is the best CPU for the money to get for BF4. Also with no need for a Z87 board makes the cost cheaper allowing for more money to be thrown into graphics.

If you want to overclock at all, OP, you have to get a z87 board and a 4670k or 4770k.

The Xeon he posted is well under $400, and as shown in the link I posted above it performs better than the I5. Please do click that link and have a look.

I see now, the first link posted by Sciophobiaranger showed the xeon at 2.8Ghz, I think it was the low power chip linked by mistake. I must admit I am very impressed with the price of this xeon, newegg lists it at $255 and it is 3.3ghz with hyper threading. If this processor sells for $255 then why would anyone buy an I5 at the same price roughly without hyper threading? Looks good to me. My brother will be needing a whole new rig soon for gaming... is there any disadvantage of this xeon to a similarly clocked I5?

No disadvantage at all. It will perform better than an i5. Maybe not much in apps that use 4 or less threads, but some improvement will be there as it has more cache. In higher threaded apps, it will be a bigger gap in performance between the two in favor of the Xeon. Xeon will probably also last longer as it is designed to be a workhorse.
