How do i connect my dongle to the router

I have a reliance netconnect + wireless dongle and want to know if i can connect to a wireless router and then get my pc + my tablet pc on the wifi network?

please bear with me as i am a noob to this . Thanks

For the tablet, you need to connect to the routers SSID and then enter the password when prompted.

For the dongle, you need to install the drivers and then do the above.

Most usb modems are not designed to work that way.

You may wish to see if your ISP can provide a solution.

Failing that, with some work, you may be able to have the laptop share the internet connection with the tablet(Windows ICS). I have never used it is that way, but it may work

The problem with cellular modems like that is that they do not all run on the same drivers. Routers do not know how to run these things.

Can you get TP-link routers in your location? they list USB sticks that work with routers they make.

That or look for a router with a USB port then try to check the makers website to see if it can be used with usb cellular sticks/modems.

It all depends on what you can get in your area.

This is all assuming you are using cellular internet(and not some kind of cable/dsl service.).

For cable/dsl. you just setup like das_stig mentioned.

You could just connect the usb dongle to your pc and then use a second wireless card in the pc to act as a wireless access point and enable internet sharing on the pc, for your pad.
