Howdy all. Just finished my 1st computer build woo hoo! Everything seems well, Asus Z87+i7-4770k running Win7 64. Ran temp tests, all stable, so far so good. I've got a bit of a problem though. I have an SSD in my SATA port 1, optical drive in 2, and new HDD drives in 3 and 4. I am not running a raid.

I would like to add my old IDE drive but the BIOS doesn't see it. Yes, flashed ny BIOS to latest version. Using an ide/sata converter, bios set to AHCI, ports enabled. Is this a "jumper issue"? My old drive still has win xp on it, do I need to wipe it first before the BIOS will recognize it? Thanks for any assistance.

Solution
what he said... you need IDE mode.

on my ASUS mobo, i have the option to run SATA 1-4 in ahci or IDE, then SATA 5-6 in IDE or AHCI.

so if you have that ability, plug your IDE into 5 or 6 and set that to IDE
