Hey guys!

I've been on here a few times now getting advice for my first gaming rig, and I just wanted some final thoughts before I ordered everything. My budget is a bit higher than I originally anticipated so If you guys have recommendations for maybe a little higher quality Mobo or something I'll definitely look into it.

But why not just stick with the 7970 and then add a second one later on...

You can get one PowerColor Radeon HD 7870 XT 2GB Video Card and wait for the card to get cheaper to crossfire them but this card alone can max out games on ultra.
It's basically a 760 with boost except ALOT cheaper. And get the 840 EVO series, it's only like 10$ more or so. There is cheaper 1866 mhz ram, the Corsair Vengeance LP is a bit cheaper if you want. Get a better power supply, 550w is too low. I would look for 700 or 750 to have a bit more room for upgrades. You typically never want to be close to full load.

If anything I wouldn't buy any card at all and just wait until the new amd radeon series to get out to see if the cards get any cheaper.

But why not just stick with the 7970 and then add a second one later on? That was true about six months ago but now that the 7970 is actually affordable it makes more sense. I'm not sure how much of an impact the R9 series will have on the current 7XXX pricing though.

Also, I have a highly rated 750W PSU chosen. Not sure if you read that wrong, but no worries on that :)
