Hi,

I just set my BIOS to the ASUS Optimized Settings as a sort of base line overclock and was blown away when I found that I was getting 77C temperatures after an hour of Prime95. I've got a Cooler Master V6GT as the CPU Cooler and this just doesn't seem right. Volts are at 1.20 (although its adaptive, so maybe it changed during the test). 4.0ghz is just such a piddly OC so why am I getting 77C? This is about TCase which means that I should lower the clocks right? Or is this an acceptable maximum OC? I don't want to kill my processor; I'd much prefer to have lower clocks and longer CPU life. So should I lower the clocks? Or what?

I think that's acceptable in Prime, generally in normal use you will prob max about 20 degrees cooler, which put's you mid high 50s

Take voltage off of auto and use only what's necessary for 4GHz.
offset -.010 maybe?
reduce VRIN
V6 is nOT a good cooler.
