Just upgraded to 8.1 last night and immediately noticed that my pc's image quality had deteriorated.

Everything has lost sharpness and I'm not sure if there's a fix for it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'll roll back my drivers and see if that fixes anything. I don't think it's a monitor issue, though.

I have heard not to use the latest NVidia betas for 8.1. Might be an issue with NVidia as a friend of mine said that games felt a bit weird while I haven't noticed anything.

Image quality is the same as 8 was and games play the same on 8.1 as 8. I do have a AMD GPU though.

Everything I've read so far seems to suggest something to do with display scaling - in Windows 8.1 MS decided to scale for high resolution screens which appears to cause the blurring.

Try disabling scaling / setting everything back to 100% for your app in particular or the monitor itself. For an app right click and choose properties, it's in the compatibility tab, for the monitor look under monitor settings (http://www.askvg.com/fix-bold-blurry-or-hard-to-read-font-problem-in-windows-8-1/)

If it's just Chrome with the issue you need to set a flag inside chrome://flags, google it for the setting, it's a known issue at the moment.
