Hello, first post on the forums :)

Anyways, i have never built a computer before but decided to take it upon myself to do so. I received my components today and assembled everything. At first, the computer turned on but did not have a display. After turning it off and making sure everything was plugged in, i turned it on but there was no power at all to the computer. I noticed that the 24 pin plug on the motherboard does not seem like it is secure. I assume it is supposed to "click" when plugged in all the way, but the holding pin on the plug seems to be slightly bent. After some more fiddling with the plug i got it to turn on sometimes, sometimes it wouldnt. But whenever it turned on, there was still no display. I ended up taking the power supply out and testing it with the paperclip method, and it seems to work fine. After hooking the psu back up, i cannot get the computer to power on at all, even messing with the plug. Im really stuck. What should my next move be?

Oh yeah and my build.

MSI lga1155 mb

Geforce gtx 660

corsair cx 430

corsair vengeance 8gb ram

western digital caviar 500gb hdd

intel i3 3220

and a cooler master 430 elite case

"I noticed that the 24 pin plug on the motherboard does not seem like it is secure." this sounds suspect to me. I know some of those pins are very hard to connect and disconnect, so it wouldn't surprise me if you damaged it.

As to there being no display, does your monitor turn on at all? Does the power button light up? Is it Green/white/blue-ish, orange or red? If it does turn on does it give you any text, about a signal?

Also I'm assuming you've installed a HDD, RAM correctly.

I tried pushing it down pretty hard so this is possible. And no, when the computer powered up there was no display, as in the computer didnt any display whatsover. I have the hdd and ram installed. And at this point, the computer will not power on at all.

So the PSU works. Did the monitor light up at all (power led etc?). Just trying to determine if your monitor may have a problem in the first place, but it seems to my best judgement that the motherboard got damaged. See what RMA options are available.

Ahh i was afraid you were going to say that. Is there anything else i should try first to make sure that its motherboard? Looking at the prongs in the plug it doesnt look like they are damaged, but i have no electronics experience so i cant really speak. The plastic clip from the 24 on the outside of the plug from the power supply DOES however seem bent. Not sure if this makes a difference.
