Anything useful to be done with a damaged MB (bent pins)?

I ordered a CPU and motherboard from new egg. I verified the mother board supported i7 beforehand ... and I'm sure you see where I'm going. My ignorance bit me bad. gen 3 of i7 has socket 1155, gen 4 has socket 1150.... wtf? really not only are they so similar but the lower number is the newer? I wonder how many other people mess this up?

Only myself to blame I guess.... new egg's return policy on MB and CPU is no refund only replacement so I'm just screwed. I decide to put the socket protector back on and sell the MB on e-bay as the MB is in perfect condition.

But i'm not done messing up yet, I can't get the damn cap back on the socket and wind up bending a whole slew of pins in the process (still haven't gotten that damn plastic cover back on the socket).

Now... what? 120$ paper weight? is there any call for damaged MB on e-bay? didn't look like like much interest in my search. Seems like there should be something I can do with this.

You can try to bend the pins back into place (magnifying glass and something thin; I use a dulled razor blade). If you have a compatible processor, you can test to see if it works after bending the pins back into place.
