Memory for a Maximus VI Hero Gaming Rig

I'm planning on building a new PC for gaming. I've got my eyes on an i7-4770k and a single GTX 780 to put into an Asus Maximus VI Hero.

Memory has me a bit stumped now.

I would settle for 2x4gb of 1600 Corsair, but I saw the dominator platinum series stuff, and with quad channel packs up to 2666mhz it had me wondering if, for a gaming rig, I could benefit from investing some more.

I also can't seem to find an absolute answer for if quad channel is actually supported by this board, people seem to conveniently use the term quad channel to simply mean supports 4 dimms.

Advice?

the x58 chipset has quad memory controllers the 1150 and 1155 has two memory controllers. if your going to use an after market heat sink the lp cosair 8g 1866 ram onsale on newegg. they also have the 2100 ram on sale too.

there been few new posting about ram speed. I cant find it now but a online review took a set of 3000 speed gaming ram and a new mb and showed in real world any ram faster then 1866 you were paying more money then getting any value back.
on the intel 1155 mb if you look at the mb guild you see a0 and b0 as one bank and a1 and b1 as the other bank.
on these mb you want to use two matched dimms.

I'll do a bit more investigating.

I think I've nailed down that Z89 2011 chipset boards are the ones which actually benefit from memory in a quad channel configuration.

I'm not considering memory higher than 2133 now I don't think. I just have to decide if 4x4gb 2133mhz in working quad channel is worth the change from 1150 to 2011 chipsets over 2x4gb 2133mhz
