Computer Freezing Regular

So yesterday I decided to upgrade from Windows 7 to Windows 8. I installed and upgraded fine. However on simple tasks of trying to open applications, open the browser or even moving the mouse would cause the system to freeze and not respond until manually turned off. This was happening every few minutes, and I've never had system freezes this often before.

I therefore decided to just clean install Windows 8 as something may be conflicting. I cleared my SSD which had Windows 7 on and installed Windows 8 on it again. Once again the install went through fine and this time I managed to install all the Windows Updates before a freeze. It then began freezing again, at random times as before.

I did a bit of googling and found that my SSD has had a firmware update to prevent this sort of thing, however when trying to install this it runs forever or freezes during the install. I left the install overnight to see if it would finish and this morning my screen wouldn't even stay on. I rebooted again and got a Windows error (0xc000000e) mentioning Winload.exe?

I've never had these sort of problems before and that SSD update may solve it, but I can't install it..Any ideas on how to proceed?

Follow these steps and report back what happens for each step later.
1.Try system restore in this way.

else 2.Try safe booting --if it doesn't freeze in the safe mode. Then there might a be problem with some startup service or some other system service .

else 3.Create a recovery media using USB or a CD or just boot you PC from the WIN 8 CD if you have got it. [Make sure that you changed the boot order in BIOS to CD first]
Now when windows system dialog box appears set the Time and currency format, Keyboard or input method and the language to install and then click “Next”.
Click on repair >>troubleshoot >>advanced options >> Command prompt..

I have yet to do that, I'd hoped this morning it would be sorted before I went to work but seems its not. So I'll head into Safe Mode tonight if you can suggest something to do there :)

Step 1: Don't have a system restore to go back to
Step 2: Didn't freeze in safe mode
Step 3: They all succeeded and it can see my windows installation and SSD

Loaded it backup out of safe mode and it froze again so it may be a startup thing like you said

With everything you have said and tried I would contact the manufacture of the SSD and see what tools they require to verify if the SSD is bad.

If you tried to run the firmware update and it froze then it might be that the SSD is bad as it shouldn't take too long to upgrade a SSDs firmware.

Hmm then go to control panel >> programs and features >> view installed updates[Left side].

Check the updates that have happened just before this crash occurred and report the last five. Then I'll tell you what to do.

After I installed it, I installed all the updates to see if it solved the problem. It was crashing before the updates but I'll list them when I get home again...

I actually just found something thats a bit odd. I went into my BIOS and found two bootable drives. A SATA version of my SSD and a UEFI boot of the SSD. It was set to boot on the UEFI so I changed it to SATA as its connected with those cables and now its loaded Windows 8 up, and not crashed yet.

Anyone know the difference?

EDIT* I switched it back to UEFI and it still hasn't crashed. Not sure whats happening, if its sorted or what. Only thing that happened was it did some Windows Updates again
