When I find my comfort point for an overclock, how do I find the minimum voltage I need to maintain the overclock stable? Just ramp it down in increments till it doesn't run ?

I7 4770k
Asus Maximus vi hero MoBo
Win 7

Hi,

Yep basically your correct, You'll need to reduce the voltage by small increments and then re-test for stability with a program like Prime95 or OCCT. keep on doing this until your overclock becomes unstable, then increase the voltage slightly to regain stability.

You need to study overclocking guides for your hardware and learn what you're doing before overclocking anything!

Taking advice here in the forums is dangerous with all our new instant experts, the guide writers have thoroughly tested their information they've written the guides from.

You may get advice here in THGF that 2 weeks ago the advice giver, may have know less than you do!

Are you really going to trust your hardware to that?

Learn what you are doing first, and then Do It!

I hope your not indicating that I'm one of those "instant experts" :p I've been around for awhile you know. :)

Of course you're right though, OP should read up (if he/she hasn't already) before doing anything.

Of course not!

You've been a member of THGF since 2008!

Tom's is infested now with instant experts, I'm trying to raise the OPs awareness to how important learning how to overclock is, before actually doing it!

5 years already! I feel so old :(:D

This new badge thingie-ma-bob most be quite new, I don't remember it at all. Not sure I like it either.

Anyway I must stop derailing the thread. OP make sure you do your homework :)
