As the title says, I've been looking around for a decent upgrade from my current graphics card (a GTX 660).

I figured it'd be best to get another opinion before making a decision. Maybe from someone that has/had a 770.

Thanks!

I just saw a 280x review on anandtech. It's almost as powerful as a 780 and $50 cheaper than a 770. I see aboslutely no reason not to get a R9-280x over a 770.

Isnt the 280x just a refresh of the 7970? Is that another model number? Dont like the new system of categorizing AMD cards. Been working with the 780 recently for a few builds for people here on TH and that card is a beast. 770 is very nice too.

Looking at some benchmarks the 770 is like 5-7 fps faster according to Bit-Tech's website!

Im thinking about getting a 770 as well. Will run BF4 1920x1080 ultra at about 45 average on beta which is pretty neat

I'd get the 770. Nvidia drivers are more trustworthy. AMD drivers always seem to introduce odd quirks such as wake from sleep issues, HDMI audio issues, runt/dropped frame issues, etc...

Ever since I switched to Nvidia cards, I haven't had any driver issues. The 770 is a solid card and if you can get your hands on an OC or SC edition, you'll get performance matching or close to a 780 for $150 less.

But other people can see a reason not get one!

Good to see I'm at least going in the right direction at least. But before making a final decision, I'll give the 280x a look just incase.

I'll take your information into consideration, chaps. Cheers!
