no audio device

I had problems with XP recognizing my audio device and tried just about everything. This relatively simple fix finally worked: http://www.rme-audio.de/en_support_techinfo.php?page=content/support/en_support_faq_10entryd. It applies to any sound hardware and it's worth a shot.
