Hey guys, quick question so I've gotten my build planned out except the cpu a 290x 8gb corsair vengeance pro ram (2133) etc etc the usual stuff but I'm wondering on the cpu, no video editing no programming not so ever just pure gaming (bf4 etc) I'm open to anything budget £250 max, which cpu would be the best? Thanks in advance :)

Future proof is impossible but you can easily build an incredible system that will last 3-5 years. Just get good enough stuff now... Like i5 and 1866. You don't have to overclock it but in a year you could, assuming you for a better cooler and Z87 mobo.
No question or thought needed.... i5-4670k. This cpu scores at the top of CPUs for gaming. Anything more is a waste of money.

However i would suggest getting 1866 instead of 2133. If you don't edit then you don't need 2133.

I hope you got a SSD in this system.

Not planning to overclock well not that I think so but is there any other options? That won't bottleneck and will be "future proof" ?

Yep I'm getting a ssd 128gb san disk thanks for the advice on the ram but the only thing is all I hear is how games will be optimized for more than 4 cores and I want to keep this system future proof.

Well overclocking is a way to "future proof" your system... The next best thing to get is the i5 4670k(as envy14tpe said). Also i dont think i7 4770k is a waste of money but i agree that it should be price closer to the i5 4670k.

Alright thanks a lot buddy, I've already picked out a z87 mobo and will pick up a cooler if I ever needed to overclock I was just wondering as I couldn't stop people saying "Games will be optimized for 8 cores or 6" anyways thanks a lot :)

A Gigabyte GA-Z87-HD3 and may just pick up a hyper 212 evo or if I have more money at some point possibly a better one.
