svchost.exe 99% CPU

svchost.exe is at 97-99% constantly and after re-starting it is at 100 000K of memory usage after 10 minutes.
It has been high in the past , but closing and re-starting solved the problem.... not this time ?

I had the same problem with my laptop. Try scanning using malwarebytes. It's free.

I believe this is a widespread problem caused by a recent Windows update. From what I have seen, the latest updates have fixed the problem though.

Anti-Virus and Anti-Spyware Scans are encourage. (I like Microsoft Security Essentials, Spybot 2)

Also download ProcessExplorer (from Sysinternals) and be more specific. svchost.exe (Service Host) is a process that can encompass any and all background service activity.

Always update your computer. (Windows Update)
