Your question

Enough power for 280X crossfire?

Hi, my power supply has 2 12V rails with 21 amps each.

I believe this equates to around 250W for each rail.

This is apparently barely enough for 2 new Radeon R9

280X... I want to buy a Radeon R9280X now and buy

another one for crossfire in the future. What I want to

know is if I could maybe reduce the power output by

underclocking the 2 cards. Also, I have an i5 4670k and

a samsung 840 ssd. On the power supply:

3.3V -> 24A
5V -> 32A
12V1 -> 21A
12V2 -> 22A

Thanks!

The PSU is a Nox Urano 600W. I bought it back in the day I had a Core 2 Duo E8400.

Now is probably a good time to buy a new PSU. A 750W PSU would be a good minimum. Now.. What would be your budget?

To be honest, I'm not really interested in buying a new PSU. basically I just need advice on what graphics card to buy now, or upgrade solutions for the future. I'd even be ok with a R9 270X now and then buying another 270X for CF down the line.

I'd highly recommend buying a quality PSU. Worst case scenario is that your PSU breaks down and takes half the system with it.

You'll probably be ok with having a single 280. Any sort of Crossfire with that PSU would not be a good idea. There's not enough juice.

600w is good for one video card.. i have 2 msi r9 280x.. using one with 750w psu.. minimum psu says for one r9 videos card is 500w.. (says on videos card box) for 2 is 1000w.. Plus ur cpu n other things on psu so.. get at least 1000w or 1050.. spend money once n never worry about it..
