Memory Not Recognized by Windows

This seems to be a very common general problem, though I have yet to find a solution to my specific circumstance.

I recently installed new RAM in my PC, upgrading from 2gb to 4gb, 4 x 1. My MB has 4 slots, and max RAM is 4. After doing this, I installed Win XP x64 so I could utilize all my RAM.

Unfortunately, Windows only recognizes 3 GB. My BIOS and CPU-Z both report 4 GB. I ran memtest86 with zero errors.

My computer is a DELL Optiplex gx280, my BIOS is up to date.

I'm hoping someone can help me find answers I've not been able to after hours of searching. Thanks.

I'll have to look into how much memory onboard memory is using, but I don't think it is affecting the number reported by Windows because when I had 2 gb installed, it reported the full 2.

No, it didn't. I installed 4 gigs, and it only showed up as 3. I was hoping for 3.5, which prompted me to switch to x64.

Yeah, unfortuantely, my BIOS doesn't support memory remapping.
