OK I recently built my first pc and have two gtx 780 acx sli. I hear amd is coming out with new cards with mantle....is this a big deal and will nvidia fire back because I have friends that love there amd cards but sometimes complain about driver support???...I never had any problems with divers on the gtx side. Also some input from current amd owners about frame skipping in crossfire is it fixed really?? and I hear no crossfire bridge needed in new cards...

More about : amd mantle 290x

I don't think the lack of a Crossfire bridge is going to help as far as their drivers are concerned, I only run a single AMD card and I can tell you now that their drivers aren't brilliant.

Hi there :)

The new AMD GPUs (namely the R series) won't need/require a bridge. About the frame pacing issue; it was fixed with the release of the 13.8 Beta driver back in August (by the way the latest driver is 13.11, which was released last week).

There have been lots of discussions in numerous forums and consumer website about the launch of the new R9 and R7 series cards (performance, comparison, bench marks, etc), including the new API Mantle. Do a Google search on the topic to learn more; I'm sure you'll be able to make a decision based on your finding ;)

According to this article http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/catalyst-13.8-frame... the framepacing fix is still a work in progress.

Mantle will first be in BF4 as a demo, and will be showcased then released in January. Demos are already out, but it is very secretive so I cant share any info.

Hi there, that article is from early September. Since then we've released a few, newer drivers that addressed the frame pacing issue. The latest version can be found on our site (http://support.amd.com/en-us/download), it's the 13.11 Beta Driver.

You did mention the 13.8 and whilst I know there has been a couple since I have yet to see any articles where the latest one has been tested, does this one work with Eyefinity and DX11 games then? I only ask because the 13.8 didn't.

Yes it does. We released the 13.8 Beta drivers in phases, the latter version addressed DX11 games (and to be completely honest with you, I'm not sure about Eyefinity, I will look into this for you...)
