Windows 8 Vs Windows 7 For New Gaming System?

I just purchased a 4670k 7970 build and I have been hearing a lot of things about how Windows 8 gets like 30 frames more in games like BF4 than Windows 7. I want to know if I should return Windows 7 and get Windows 8 instead, will there still be a huge performance gap when the full game comes out? Also, will mantle support for the card in December affect whether or not I should get Windows 7 or 8? And why exactly does windows 8 get better performance than Windows 7? All responses appreciated, thanks.

That's what I was saying, Win8.1 is offering the return to the look of the traditional Win desktop, there's utility programs that have been out for months offering the same

Win 8 is supposed to be more streamlined as far as processing thing better, many don't like the interface which is easy to change with 3rd party apps to take it to the Win7 look, and is offered with Win 8.1 when it's released (will be a free update) so I'd prob suggest going Win8

So games will get drastically better performance in Windows 8 throughout the whole course of the game or will it be optimized for Windows 7 eventually? Because I prefer the layout of Windows 7 but I don't want to be getting bad performance just because of an operating system.
