Hi, first time posting here, this site has been a great source of info to me when trying to troubleshoot and I've reached the point where I really need some advice.

I have been having many problems with my pc since I got it. Mainly stutter and slight to heavy screen tearing-like effect everywhere, even on desktop (especially when scrolling and moving windows), but most noticable in games and video playback (esp youtube). The cursor even feels choppy when I load the bios on my motherboard, likewise on desktop when using integrated graphics. Usually the effect is only slight but when the gpu or cpu is under load the effect increases. Some games look alright at 60fps but anything less and it stutters noticably, making it look worse than 25ps when it is actually 40-50 fps.

I also have a problem with flash drives not being recognized correctly unless they are plugged in during a reboot. I can't use Windows Update or I end up with BSOD. Sometimes it takes forever to shut down.

The motherboard shows many errors so I'm thinking this must be the problem.

Z77 Extreme6 error readout: 05, 55, 15, 4F, 68, 72, 96, 62, 9A, 99, 64, A2 and others; it's too fast too see them all.

Then when the screen with the ASRock logo on it loads up, before the welcome screen loads, 8 small white lines appear in the top left corner for a few seconds. That has to indicate a hardware problem with the motherboard surely.

After looking up the meanings of the codes, it seems that everything is having errors; hdds, cpu, memory, pci slots. I am thinking the problem is with the motherboard and not every single other part.

Running BIOS 2.4, I have tried resetting the cmos. drivers updated to the best of my knowledge (I wasn't completely sure which ones to get) I have tried other monitors.

Is this motherboard obviously faulty and a candidate for rma? Or should I try reinstalling everything, updating bios, reformatting windows possibly? Is there something else I should be doing? Or does the problem maybe lie elsewhere; can faulty psu, cpu, or ram be causing this?

Any help is greatly appreciated. Really need a pointer on the next step I should be taking here. Thanks for anything you can offer

right now you have every right to make a claim with the shipping company. and i would i would take a photo of the damaged and get your money back from the shipper. if the shipper wont do anything you might have to file small claims with the shipper. i call and send an email and a register letter to the company you got the pc from letting them know of the hidden shipping damage. if they stone wall you you may have to contact your credit card company and do what called a charge back. I built a server and sent it to a friend...they drop it in shipping i was lucky the only thing killed was a cd-rom drive. made a claim with the shipper and within 30 days had a check for the cd-rom drive.

Thanks for the quick reply.

I will try the new bios.

Seating issues feel quite likely to me; one of my cores is always a bit hotter than the others. Plus I had this pc built for me; firstly it turned up damaged and I sent it back to have parts switched out, maybe it is still damaged.

I will check the cpu seating if the bios doesn't help, but is there a way to get an indication the cpu is seated incorrectly without physically taking it apart?

Thanks

I am not too familiar with flashing. My flash drives aren't working, and I don't have a floppy drive. I read flashing from Windows is warned against but it looks like it's my only option?

edit: Ended up flashing through windows with no problems, but no improvements. Might figure out how to remove my noctua nh-d14 and check out the cpu later today.

I removed the cpu and surely enough, it seems like about a tenth of the pins are pointing the wrong way. I don't see how it was working at all, and I don't expect it to boot when I put it back together.

The cooler was bent out of shape when I received the system, but it seemed to work ok so I didn't worry about it. Seems the pins got bent when the cooler did. Now I suppose I should send the cooler and motherboard back to seller for replacement, but the whole system is still under warranty, and it's been sent to me damaged twice and I'm getting fed up.

Do you think I would be within my rights to RMA the whole system for a full refund or a store credit so I can build it myself?

Would love some perspective on what others would do in this situation.

Edit: sorry about double post, and thank you very much Smorizio for giving me some direction.
